COUNCIL RECOMMENDATION of 18 December 1978 concerning nationals of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg who hold a diploma in veterinary medicine conferred in a third country (78/1029/EEC)

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES,

Approving Directive 78/1026/EEC concerning the mutual recognition of diplomas, certificates and other evidence of formal qualifications in veterinary medicine, including measures to facilitate the effective exercise of the right of establishment and freedom to provide services (1),

Noting that this Directive refers only to diplomas, certificates and evidence of formal qualifications conferred in a Member State,

Anxious, however, to take account of the special position of nationals of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg who, since there is no complete university training in the Grand Duchy itself, have studied in a third country,

Hereby recommends that the Governments of the other Member States should allow nationals of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg who hold a final diploma of studies in veterinary medicine conferred in a third country and recognized under the Luxembourg law of 18 June 1969, to take up and pursue activities as self-employed veterinary surgeons within the Community, by recognizing these diplomas in their territories.

Done at Brussels, 18 December 1978.

For the Council

The President

H.-D. GENSCHER (1)See page 1 of this Official Journal.
